ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior official Fawad Chaudhry has said that Shehbaz Sharif should give the date of the elections if he wants political stability in the country.
He was referring to a news report that quoted the prime minister as saying political stability was needed to bring lasting economic stability and increase agricultural productivity and exports.
In a statement on social networking site Twitter, Fawad Chaudhry said Shehbaz Sharif’s statement was correct in stating that political stability is necessary for economic stability.
The former information minister said political stability was only possible through fair and transparent elections.
Fawad Chaudhry said the economic crisis was also a result of the political crisis that erupted in the country. He said Shehbaz Sharif should announce new elections if he has any power.

In a separate statement, Fawad Chaudhry expressed hope that the Lahore High Court (LHC) will annul the election of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz.
“The son was brought in by a false method. The parliament is fictitiously run. The political situation in Pakistan is critical. Elections are necessary for political stability,” he said.
Fawad Chaudhry hopes that the election of Hamza Shehbaz as Chief Minister will be declared null and void. He said the court overruled the decisions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), meaning they were not in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has resumed hearing the case challenging the election of Hamza Shehbaz as Chief Minister of Punjab.
The PTI and PML-Q filed separate petitions against Hamza’s election. An LHC bench headed by Judge Sadaqat Ali Khan hears the case. The court is expected to deliver its verdict today.
