LAHORE: A delegation of Pakistan Industrialists and Traders Association (PIAF) headed by PIAF Chairman Fahim-ur-Rehman Sehgal visited Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman on Tuesday here at home of the governor.
During the meeting, people associated with different companies briefed the governor on the issues they are facing. The Governor of Punjab said it was the need of the hour to get the country’s economy back on its feet. He said that political stability was very important for economic stability. He added that the continuity of economic policies is very important for the development of the country, so all political parties should draw up an economic charter. The governor emphasized all segments of society to play a role in the development of the country. The country is currently facing economic challenges and other problems, but we must not lose hope, he said, adding that there is a need to strengthen links between academia and industry. He said the PMLN in previous terms had allocated funds to connect universities to industry. The governor said it was necessary to increase exports to stabilize the country’s economy. He said business people should also be consulted when developing government policies.
The PIAF delegation briefed the Governor on demurrage, infrastructure, sewer, taxes and other matters. The governor assured the delegation that the recommendations to solve their problems would be sent to the relevant departments. In the delegation, PIAF Vice President Raja Adeel Ashfaq, Secretary Sheikh Abdul Sabura and LCCI Executive Committee members Malik Nadeem, Chaudhry Wajid Ali, Salim Asghar Bhatti, Raja Waseem Hassan, Khamis Saeed Butt, Shamim Akhtar, PIAF executive committee members Mudassar Masood, Sheikh Sajjad Afzal, Zafar Mahmood, Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, Shaban Akhtar, Zeeshan Sohail Malik, Umar Sarfraz Sheikh, Mujahid Fahim, Ahsan Mahmood and Mudassar Ghafoor were included.
CONDOLENCES: Muhammad Balighur Rehman has expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives following the collision between an oil tanker and a bus near the Jalalpur Pirwala interchange on the M5 highway.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the deceased a place in His mercy and give courage to the bereaved families to bear this trauma with patience and perseverance.
