KUALA LUMPUR: Engaging in an in-depth discussion on when the 15th general election (GE15) should be held will affect the country’s political stability, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said.

The prime minister said it would also affect the government’s focus on addressing the various problems faced by the people, including price hikes influenced by the global economic outlook.

“The country’s policy is still stable. We are now focusing on reviving the economy and tackling the general price increase, as well as the supply problems, which have become a global phenomenon.

“If we talk too much about the date of the GE15, it will somehow affect our political stability because we will get bogged down in discussions about it rather than in the management of the country,” he said. during a press conference after taking a ride aboard Mass. Putrajaya Rapid Transit (MRT) Line from Kampung Batu to Sri Damansara Sentral on Thursday, June 16.

Ismail Sabri said that although the economic crisis is a global problem, the government still needs to give proper attention to the issue to ensure that the impact will not be too detrimental to the country.

He also repeated his statement that no prime minister has ever openly discussed the date of a general election. – Bernama
