NCERT Introduces Abolition of Section 370 in Class 12 Political Science Book, Here’s What Students Will Read



The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) added a reference to the abolition of section 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in its class 12 political science textbook and at the same time deleted the subject Separatism and beyond, Hindustan times reported.

The subject was excluded from the chapter “Politics in India since independence” and the reference to the repeal of article 370 was added to it in the section Regional aspirations.

The reference to Article 370 reads as follows:

Jammu and Kashmir had special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. However, despite this, the region has experienced violence, cross-border terrorism and political instability with internal and external ramifications.

The article resulted in the loss of many lives, including those of innocent civilians, security personnel and activists. In addition, there has also been a large-scale displacement of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir valley.
