Hope political stability returns to Bihar: Prashant Kishor on JDU-RJD meeting

With the sudden series of political events in the past two days sweeping the sleep of Bihar politicians, well-known poll strategist Prashant Kishor hopes on August 10 that political stability can now return to the state.

Expressing his opinion on the change of events, Kishore said, “I hope political stability will return to #Bihar now. Nitish Kumar said he is starting a new chapter. I hope he will fulfill the aspirations of the people. of Bihar.”

Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar is set to be sworn in again as Bihar’s chief minister on Wednesday, while Tejashwi Yadav is set to become the deputy CM. It will be his eighth time, when Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Bihar.

In 2020, Kumar was sworn in as Chief Minister of Bihar for the seventh time with the support of the BJP. In the elections, the NDA secured a majority of 125 seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, 243 seats strong, of which BJP won 74 seats, JD(U) out 43 while eight seats were won by two others NDA voters. The RJD, on the other hand, became the largest party with 75 seats, while the Congress won only 19 of the 70 seats it contested.

Kumar has ended his alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance and joined RJD during a day of rapidly changing political developments in Bihar. Seven parties including 164 MPs as well as independent MPs in our Mahagathbandhan, Nitish Kumar said during a joint presser with RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav after meeting the Governor of Bihar.

Kumar tendered his resignation as chief minister heading the NDA coalition on August 9 to Governor Phagu Chauhan. In addition, submitted a list of 164 deputies as supporters. The effective membership of the State Assembly is 242 and the magic number is 122.
