2022: The Department of Political Science and the Department of History will host a panel of experts on the Russian-Ukrainian war

“Ukraine, Russia and Europe: What’s Happening and What It All Means” on April 27 to examine the evolving nature of the conflict


On April 27, from 4-5 p.m., UMass Dartmouth’s Political Science Department and History Department are hosting a Zoom webinar to discuss the ongoing ramifications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “Ukraine, Russia, and Europe: What’s Happening and What It All Means” will feature Associate Professor Robert Darst (Political Science), Professor Brian Glyn Williams (History), UMassD student Valerii Zhurylo, originally from Ukraine, and the Hobart and William Smith College professor. David Ost (Political Science).

The event is open to the public, but attendees must register via Zoom.

The moderated panel will discuss the current situation in Ukraine with respect to the record of the country itself and neighboring countries, Russia’s changing military strategy and objectives, and the implications for the future of the international order. The panel of professors presents expertise on nuclear issues in the former Soviet Union, European politics and Russian military strategy.
